Srinagar, July 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has said that its leaders and activists continue “Free Yasin Malik” and “Remove ban on JKLF” campaign in various parts of the world. The JKLF in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “The JKLF leaders, activists, well-wishers and Kashmiris living across the globe have expedited their protest rallies and other peaceful programmes demanding immediate release of Muhammad Yasin Malik, removal of the arbitrary ban on JKLF by Indian government and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.” The statement said that the JKLF Diplomatic Bureau led by its head, Professor Raja Zafar Khan, held a meeting with British Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London, the other day. “The JKLF leaders Liaqat A Lone, and Mehmood Hussain were also part of the delegation. The delegation apprised FCO of the ground situation in Kashmir and use of brute force by Indian government against the people of Kashmir. The delegation asked the FCO to play role for end to human rights abuses in occupied Kashmir,” it added.
The same delegation also held a meeting with the Chairperson of All Party Parliamentary Groups on Kashmir (APPKG), Ms Debbie Abrahams, and apprised her of the situation of occupied Kashmir, the statement said. It said that the JKLF had already launched a minibus campaign throughout London and other cities of UK. “A minibus with photographs of illegally detained JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, JKLF flags, the flags of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and slogans like “Release Yasin Malik”, “Lift ban on JKLF” and “Free Kashmir”, recently rallied around Lord’s Cricket Ground and other stadiums during ICC World Cup semi-finals and final,” it said. The JKLF statement said that earlier a party delegation comprising Masoom Ansari, Nazim Bhatti and Liaqat A Lone met with a member of European Parliament, Mr Phillip Bennion, and apprised him of the human rights violations by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir. It said that a peaceful protest was also held outside the Indian High Commission in Brussels, Belgium. The JKLF leaders including Zahid Zaheer Mushtaq Deevan, Sardar Naseem Iqbal and Shabbir Ahmed participated in the protest, it said. “Holding banners and placards reading slogans like “Free Kashmir”, “Release Yasin Malik”, “Lift ban on JKLF” and “Stop human rights abuses in Kashmir”, the protesters urged the world community to protect democratic and human rights of the people of Kashmir,” it added.
