AJK PM informs MEPs about HR abuses in IOK

Brussels, November 08 (KMS): The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan, held separate meetings with Members of European Parliament (MEPs), Mrs Isabel Wiseler-Lima and Luke’s Mandl at the EU Parliament in Brussels. The AJK Prime Minster informed the members about the human rights violations in occupied Kashmir. He said that occupied Kashmir had been under military siege for last over three months. He said that Indian government was planning genocide in the occupied territory to change its demography which was clear violation of human rights and humanitarian law. Indian state terrorism is not limited to occupied Kashmir but has been extended to Line of Control areas in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, he added. The AJK Prime Minster said that in occupied Kashmir Indian forces were using rape as a weapon of war. He said, there are many incidents of mass rapes in the territory. He said, more than 6,000 unmarked mass graves discovered in six districts out of 22. These all acts of Indian government are crimes against humanity,” he pointed out. Raja Farooq Haider said that Indian forces were violating the ceasefire agreement on the Line of Control and targeting civilian population, hospitals and schools. He said, India had waged unannounced war on both sides of LoC, putting the regional and international peace at stake.

He said that struggle for right to self-determination in occupied Kashmir is completely indigenous. He said, “The people of Kashmir are demanding their just right to self-determination. The UN resolutions of 13th August 1948 and 5th January 1949 are agreements between India and Pakistan and both countries are bound to implement them.” The AJK Prime Minister said, Kashmir is not a bilateral dispute between Pakistan and India but people of Kashmir are also a party to it. He urged the international community to take notice of human rights violations by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.
