London Institute of South Asia strongly condemns the illegal, unprovoked and malevolent arrest by the Telangana police of a 7-member team of lawyers, journalists and human rights activists belonging to the Telangana Democratic Forum and other organisations on Christmas Day 25th December, 2016 at Dummagudam village of Bhadrachalam District of Telangana who were planning to visit Chhattisgarh to enquire into complaints of human rights violations suffered by Adivasi villagers of Chhattisgarh at the hands of security forces. The plight of Dalits and Adivasi in India is despicable abuse of human rights and arresting human rights workers is outrageous. India is the biggest human rights violator in the world where 300 million Dalits are the treated as scum of the earth just because they are born inferior in Hindu caste system.
